Traditional apple crisp gets a healthy face lift using no refined sugar, while maintaining that perfectly crisp topping.
Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9" x 9" pan with baking spray.
Peel, core and slice the apples. Place in a large bowl and toss in the apple pie spice. Spread in an even layer in the prepared pan.
In the same large bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients.*
Sprinkle over the top of the apples and bake for 35-38 minutes, until apples are soft and crumble is crisp.
Let cool slightly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or cool whip.
*Note: the crumble doesn't cover the apples completely. If you'd like more crumble, double the ingredients and sprinkle over the top.
